Imke received her diploma in mineralogy in January 1995 at the Institute of Mineralogy - University of Hannover . Her diploma thesis ("Analytical Methods for the determination of Lithium in ultramafic rocks and their minerals".), supervised by Prof. Dr. Kurt Mengel gave her an inside look on how the geological machine earth does its work.

In April 1995 she joined the Department of Mineralogy-Geochemistry-Salt Deposits at the Technical University of Clausthal. With her splendid analytical geochemistry knowledge she is perfectly educated for the determination of stable isotopes in brines, which were trapped in 250 million years old fluid inclusions. The knowledge about stable istotopes is a further step in understanding the genesis and evolution of salt rocks, on which we work daytimes, but sometimes even at nights.

By far the best of Imke is that she is always helpful and concerned about the problems of her colleagues. Quiet honestly, I don't know what she did in the past to earn me as her bureau mate.
