Location

The old mining town of Clausthal is situated in northern Germany on top of the Harz mountains near the Intercity stations of Göttingen (60 km), Braunschweig (80 km), and Hannover (100 km). The nearest railway station is in Goslar (20 km), with an infrequent bus service to Clausthal. Hannover Airport offers international flight connections, though not as many as Frankfurt Airport with Intercity links to Göttingen.

The department is conveniently located right in the centre of Clausthal, in the old university main building next to the landmark wooden church, between town hall and main post office.
